The seventh edition of the International Radio Fair that started on World Radio Day at Bhanjakala Mandap, ended today. Government organisations like Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), various community radio and private FM radio stations set up their stalls at the fair.
Around 3000 sets of old radios and radio related items were on display in this event. Radio sets, gramophones, two-way radios, walkie talkies and emergency radios were exhibited for visitors.
“This is one-of-its-kind fair organised at the state capital. Over the years, we got to know that no such fairs are held across Asia. This year, we have organised this fair following all Corona related precautions,” said Subrat Kumar Pati, convener of the fair.
Besides, they also felicitated RJs, who were disseminating information during the lockdown period. Renowned radio personalities like Nadiya Bihari Mohanty were paid tribute on this occasion. There were corona related painting exhibition and events for students.
“Our aim is to create awareness about radio and its related activities, career opportunities and responsibilities of radio broadcasters,’ said the organisers.
